Melissa Summers, PhD
Energy Sciences Area Deputy at Berkeley Lab
Melissa Summers is the Area Deputy of the Energy Sciences Area at Berkeley Lab, where she formulates and carries out policy, processes, and scientific strategy to shepherd and grow ESA’s research portfolio, user programs, and infrastructure. Melissa holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from UC Santa Barbara and carried out postdoctoral research at Stanford University. From 2007-2009, Melissa was a Science and Technology Policy Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science at the National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Legislative and Public Affairs.
Corrie Kuniyoshi, PhD

Corrie Kuniyoshi is a Senior Program Manager at the American Chemical Society. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from UCLA. For over 14 years Corrie has focused on the development and delivery of professional development resources for graduate students and postdocs including acting as executive editor for the Graduate & Postdoctoral Chemist Magazine. In recent years she co-lead the development and implementation of ACS’s ChemIDP.org, a comprehensive interactive individual development plan platform available (free) online.
Luigi Alvarado, PhD
Scientist, Molecular Biology at 10x Genomics, Inc.
Luigi Alvarado obtained his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Maryland at College Park in early 2014. Then, in 2017, he completed a post-doc fellowship in stem cell biology & hematology at the NIH clinical center, where he worked on the single-cell biology of hematopoietic stem cells.
Now at 10x, he is developing the technology to perform targeted single-cell RNAseq.
Bradford W. Gibson, PhD
Director, Discovery Attribute Sciences at Amgen
After 30 years in academics, Brad joined Amgen in 2016 to head up a new group in proteomics and protein analytics. His groups’ roles are two-fold: one, to characterize new protein and antibody-based reagents and therapeutics in early phase drug discovery and two, provide mass spectrometry-based proteomic technologies for the mechanism of action studies of new therapeutic targets, answer key biologic questions, and identify new biomarkers.
Wayde Konze, PhD
Sr. R&D Director, Core R&D – Analytical Science at Dow
Wayde Konze is Senior Research Director at DOW in charge of developing and executing organizational strategy. Wayde joined Dow in 2000 in the Chemical Sciences group of Core R&D and has been leading the Analytical Science organization since 2011. Wayde holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University and conducted postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
