Annie Greenaway is currently a staff scientist in the Materials Physics group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). She completed her PhD in 2017 at the University of Oregon where she worked on low-cost III-V semiconductor synthesis. Before becoming a staff scientist, Annie was a Director’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at NREL, where she worked on the integration of emerging II-IV-N2 semiconductors with established materials such as GaN. As a staff member, Annie’s research focuses on semiconductor discovery and photoelectrochemical fuel generation. She also runs the Hands-On Photovoltaics Experience workshop for graduate students working in PV. Annie led NREL’s LGBTQIA+ employee resource group for two years and is committed to improving equity and inclusion in STEM by supporting the next generation of scientists.
